Passion to establish a just and Equitable Society
Ideology of DBSSS
The answer can be given this way: There stands a poor hungry man before you. He hasn’t eaten for two days. The simplest, the most obvious and the easiest thing to do is: dig into one’s pocket and tell him, “Here, poor man, take this and go and have a good meal and be happy”. That poor man says, “Thank you”, and has his meal and is happy. But after a few hours he is hungry again. What to do then? Repeat another dole out? And for how long? Is it the right response to the needs of the poor man? Definitely it is not. What is the right way to tackle the hunger and poverty of the world?
The dole has been the traditional way. But the dole method keeps the poor permanently dependent and in the undignified state of beggars. Is there another, a better way? This is a question that has racked the brains of serious philanthropists always. Like minded volunteers organized a consultation in the year 2000 A.D and after lengthy discussions and debates started social service to the poorest of the poor.
As our services gave us sense of fulfillment with the above ideology we have registered Divya Bala Social Service Society in 2005 based upon the following principles: 1. Poverty is of human making; it is man-made. It is something that ought not to be there. 2. If poverty is man-made, it can be unmade. 3. It can be un-made only by the poor themselves. Poverty is not just the lack of food, clothing and housing. Poverty is a way of looking at oneself and the world. It is a mental apathy that accepts as unavoidable and the causes of poverty like injustice, discrimination, the caste system, untouchability, corruption, bribery and the like take it all as part of one’s destiny. If one were to say, “I am no good. Poverty and injustice are my fate; there is nothing I can do about it but bear it” then nobody can save such a person.
DBSSS thus undertook a pioneer venture to develop the poor as resources instead of using resources to develop the poor. We have beautiful examples of our success in this venture which prompted us further in 2006 to obtain FCRA registration. We have been rendering our services effectively in compliance with guidelines laid down by the Ministry of Home Affairs, India as well as our beloved donors here and abroad.
DBSSS strongly believe that an educated person is an asset to oneself, the family, society and country. We have been rendering services nearly 300+ poor students since 2005. We are proud when these students working in multinational companies for very good salaries and in turn trying to help the other needy.
Indian population is mostly depending on the agriculture basing on the monsoon. Untimely monsoon is the reason for drought, hunger and starvation deaths. DBSSS supported for women of 50 poor families by funding for income generation by milk cows, candles, juice, jam making. clothes, vegetable vendors and providing sewing machines etc.
Supported 70+ families mostly men with income generating schemes by funding small workshops like welding, carpentry, poultry, general stores , agriculture, farming tools, cleaning materials etc.
DBSSS is convinced of the basic need of every human being today is good health in the midst of highly polluted air, water, sound food products etc. People being illiterate are unaware of measures they should take to be fit. DBSSS has been conducting free medical camps on regular basis for small groups. Which are proved to be very effective. Necessary transport is provided to the 5 handicapped students to travel to their work places. Sponsored children sick parents are provided with medical aides, medicines and provisions with the help of our donors.
As the children get advanced in years they look back and start reasoning for their poverty and suffering and eager to know. Sometimes they become aggressive to themselves and the society and become more harmful. In this regard we DBSSS organize regularly camps for the boys and girls and make them understand and support them with right direction and orientation in life. They are made aware of the opportunities awaiting for them to lead a dignified life in the society. Government sponsored programs and schemes are made known to them. Eradication of social evils injustice, caste system, untouchability, poverty etc and reminded about their rights and duties as the citizens of great Indian Nation.
Shelter is the necessity for all human beings. 30% of the population in Hyderabad enjoy staying in their own residence but 50% of middle class people live in rented houses and 20% poorest of the poor population live in utter poverty which is resulted with lot of slums, highly populated with unhygienic condition, no less moral standards. With in our limited resources we have been giving our efforts to put up single bedroom, kitchen, hall and washroom to nearly 27 families with our donors help here and abroad.
Global warming is matter of greater concern these days all over. DBSSS go round to many educational institutions during rainy seasons to promote clean and green programs and encourage the young children to plant every year one and encourage them to create good and healthy environment in and around their homes. They do find sense of fulfillment for their role. Motivational classes are frequently organized in the form of dance, singing and art to make them realize their role in safeguarding our globe.
Natural calamities anywhere are beyond our comprehension and the loss they cause to the human beings can not be estimated. The series of floods associated with Deep Depression in Bay of Bengal has caused extensive damage for people who live in all low lying areas of Hyderabad. Loss of life is not reported but flash flooding in Hyderabad, India in October 2020 resulted in heavy loss for middle and lower middle classes as it washed off their simple houses with asbestos and their hard-earned household belongings. DBSSS have raised the funds to build homes for the most deserving families in Hyderabad.
DBSSS has identified more poorest of the poor children of all ages who are deprived of their basic right to education due to the financial crisis during the covid-19 period as many of their parents were forcefully terminated by their managements from their jobs. We are waiting eagerly for kind hearted people to come forward either with sponsorship or scholarships to support them for their educational needs like tuition fee, books, uniforms, nutrition etc. DBSSS would mediate to help them realize their goal in life with timely reporting. The best gift one can give is the gift of education.
Even though the Covid-19 impact is very bad DBSSS team has been working relentlessly from day one to gather food supplies, cooking food, packing, transporting and distributing food supplies to the poor from door to door. We are very much be empathetic to needy people who lost their livelihoods and who are stuck up at places other than their own for lac of transport facility. Many were forced to walk for hundreds of miles only to give up their life on the way due to starvation. Now there is an urgent need to provide them provisions to stop starvation in the current Covid-19 as it is taking differant turns .
